I'll start by saying the ground ARE beautiful. But that didn't make up for the inconvenience. The biggest inconvenience was the fact that there is no place to get a meal on the enormous Airlie grounds. But both evenings we were there we arrived exhausted, and our only option was to shower and head out to Warrenton; the nearest restaurants are 10-15 minutes away. It would have helped if Airlie at least issued a guide to local dining, but all they had on offer was a xeroxed mop with a few areas circled where some restaurants existed. Their best suggestion was the phone number of a pizza and sub place that delivered to Airlie! Some other lesser issues: the lodgings are old and lack some conveniences most people might consider basic: no tub (only a shower with poor water pressure), no minifridge or honor bar, poor lighting within the rooms, obviously no room service, large insect in our room, no assistance with luggage, no convenient place to park while checking in.
